I'm looking for the photometric curves specified in the German standard StVZO (Straßenverkehrs-Zulassungs-Ordnung).
Anyone can help me?
Dankeschön!

... perhaps it's more correct in the following way:

"which are the MINIMUM ROAD ILLUMINATION REQUIREMENTS specified in the German standard StVZO?"

hi conrad

your question is due to concern about german cops? you don't need to be, any light in any form will do!
but for further informations concerning travelling-bikes (in difference to sportbikes)its
- dynamo-driven light fix on the bike, no further requirement (really stupid taking in account that batterie-light became really bright and efficient these days.
the latter is okay to sportbikes below 11kg of weight.
but it is how i said: you got light, you're fine.

bye malte

Dankeschön Malte,
fortunately my concern is not about german cops mad;
I was just investigating how "LUMINANCE" [lux] is measured according to german standard StVZO---Straßenverkehrs-Zulassungs-Ordnung.
It appears that when a brochure says 10 lux, for example, that means 10 lux at 10 meters in front of the bike.
And that's enough for me tongue
Bye
Conrad

Take a look here: StVZO Beleuchtung und TA Bestimmungen. The page refers to the "TA" rulings, which are the "technical requirements" guidelines which tell you how to test the stuff defined by the StVZO to get the stuff approved by the "Technisches Bundesamt".

Look under "TA 23: Beleuchtungskörper" - there is a picture which shows how much or max. light (in lux at 10m) is allowed in the different quadrants.

Greetings,

H.C.

Thank you for your answer.
Just one more question: the indicated LUX at 10m are Min or Max ?
Would you be so kind to translate the picture in terms of luminance, i.e.:
- Luminance [lx] in Zone 1
- Luminance [lx] in between Zone 1 and HV
- Luminance [lx] in point HV, 2, 3, L1, R1, L5, L4, R4, R5

Thanks a lot again
ConRAD

Sorry for my German but my understanding is slightly different:

in English:
The headlamp must be positioned or aligned in such a way that the brightest point in HV is minimum 10 lux.
Along the arrow lines, i.e. between the measurement points L1-R5 the illuminance must be the minimum required (i.e. 10 lux).
In Zone 1, the light intensity can not be greater than 2 lux.

Am I correct ??

Almost correct. The second item says, that between the measure points L1to R5 minimum illumination levels are required. I think the specific ammount is given somewhere in the context of the text. I don't think that it is the 10lux.

Why are you interested in these information?
It is not sufficient to have a light according to the german laws. You (if you are an producer/distributor) also need to bring the light to an office, where the the "correctness" is checked and where you get a specific number for the light (something like ~~K"some digits" or so) that is marked on the bike products sold with the label "according to StVO". Your light will not be "legal" without that number, even if the electrical and light specifications are according to the law.
However: In practise I never heared from a Police man being so fixed on the law, in particular in case of a foreigner. They are happy if you have (sufficent) light at all.

Thank you for the answer.
I'm not a producer nor I'm a distributor; the aim of my inquiry was simply to investigate about what StVO exactly says !!
