Hello,

Does anyone have any tips on how to walk with a bike on your back through the mountains? We have about 10kms we can't cycle, so we will have to walk over some mountains with the bikes on our backs, tips would be welcome!!!

Do you have also some other baggage (overnight equipment) with you or just your bike?
And where do you have to walk? Is it in the Alps?

Ah, quick reply, thanks! We do have some overnight equipment, some food and the most necessary stuff, but got someone to drive the excess lugguage to the other side.

It is in Norway, near Myrdal, great hiking up there, but quite hard with a bike on your back. Shoulder pads will be a must, and we have to lock the steer and the pedles, but any further we are open to suggestions that will make it a bit more barable.

Hope you have some thoughts on the matter,

Erwin.

Hi,
I assume you have your luggage in the rucksack on your back. I have a full suspension bike and I carry it putting it on my back on top of the rucksack. This is not very convienent, but it works. With one hand you can balance the bike there and the main weight lies on the rucksack.

Brilliant! thanks for the info, we could have used it six months ago, but on the next crazy biking tour we will use the site.

The tour was great by the way, did some hiking, not too much due to bad conditions (slippy rocks are not very convenient with a bike on your back). Maybe next year.
