Underway in Chile

Hi, I'm riding from Santiago de Chile to the beautiful islands of Chiloe next week. I'm content to ride alone, but would also love company. I am a pretty strong rider but am on vacation for another month in Chile and could also take my time. It's about 500 miles/800km (I think) and I estimate it would take about six days. I might camp, or see about staying in people's homes or in hostels.

I have a hospedaje in Ancud where I am planning on staying for the rest of my trip and biking Chiloe from there. If you are in Santiago, or will be soon, consider this option...better than the bus...and passing though Temuco, Valdivia, Los Angeles and other beautiful and interesting Chilean towns.

Hi,

I´m from Chile, near Santiago City. I did a trip from Puerto Montt to Santiago and there are 1016 Km if you go by Panamerican route, the most short. But this way is so ugly, you could to do this journey in 20 days, ciclyng by beaturifull places like montain or beach.

If you do this journey you must visit places like Cajón del Maipo (glaciar) or Pichilemu beach in Chile Central. In south, Conguillío National Park, Pucón , Panguipulli, Valdivia, Frutillar and Puerto Varas.

In this web you can see pictures and data about this journey:

Good luck in your trip!

Underway in Chile

Hola Mariela, Thank you for the note. It looks like I'm going to take a train to Chillán and then a bus to Valdivia...and then a ride from there to Puerto Montt. Finally getting out of Stgo...looking forward to the South...next journey more of a bike tour than buses, trains, and bikes...
Never enough time to conocer Chile. Hasta la próxima,
corina
