The total distance is estimated to be 2500 kilometers without possible detours. So, inculding some detours, I believe about 6 weeks would be a good duration for the total trip. If you are interested and do not have so much time, it is possible that you do only a part. Kindest regards.

Paul

Sorry to write in english. I understand german but writing it fluently is another story.

Hallo Paul. Klingt interessant.

The Tunis to Cairo tour is a part of a larger tour around the Mediterranean Sea which I do bit by bit (a bit of about 2000 kilometers each year). I have cycled in Egypt twice. In 2005 : Damascus, Amman, Aqaba, Sinai desert, Suez, Cairo. And in 2006 (in april), I started in Cairo and cycled to Aswan. Quite special. I was escorted by police quite often but (exceptionnally), I was able to and allowed to cycle all the way. I can tell you more but I would prefer to do this directly to your mail address. I like Egypt very much (like all the countries where I cycled !)
Next year, I plan to fly to Tunis, then cycle south (most probably not the most direct route) to Libya and then follow the coast (or possibly some distance in the desert south if allowed and if I have time). I will stop in Benghazi where a friend lives (works there as a British teacher) and follow the coast to Alexandria and then to Cairo where I will take a plane back to Brussels. I will take a tent. Normally, I do not cook. I stop at small places to eat. But I can adapt to the customs of my partner.
I speak french and english and I can read german. I can speak also some italian which might be useful in Libya. Would you be interested to join ?

Kindest Regards.

Paul
