is there some internet forum where people actually post hers/his cycling travel experiences on a cotidiane and regular basis ?

i try to mean: not a forum where questions about cycling and materials/preparations/companions are asked (i have seen a lot of this kind of forums already), but one where only postings about the travel experiences already get by a previously performed cycling tour are made, like story-telling cycling traveleres tales ?

i am looking for a forum dedicated only to posting cycling traveleres tales, on a time-regular basis. Does this kind of forum exists ?

This thread might be of interest for you, though it is written in German. But clicking at the links or using a translation tool, eg the one of google, yields an impression of many different cycling trips and tales - sometimes there are just pictures, which sometimes tell more than words.

Also, many German speaking users send links and information about their trips. If this would be of any use, I could send you a few hints.

Good job, Saad. I read the article and have had a view of your cycling in Jordan. This is very interesting. The idea about woods in Jordan is great. Woods help us to travel free. I don’t like the idea to sleep in a hotel in summer in my vacation and to pay for this. However, I would pay for tent or summerhouse in the campsite, which is in a forest. Many people as well as me have no possibility to get vacation in summer season every year, but they love bike touring. I think that is why threads about Morocco are so popular.
I think the main advantage of touring in Russia or in Finland is boundless woods in the north so, if this is interesting for you and if you are a bit adventurer, welcome.

Hi Alexey -- Actually I Dream of visiting the Northern Woods in Russia & Finland. But it is a bit far of a visit and needs good planning and good time to spend there. Tell me which months and which parts are the best to visit for cycling?

Jordan is also interesting to tour on bikes especially in the spring season March onwards. We have a lot of ancient & historical routes that have not yet been ruined. Petra, Wadi Rum and Dana are among the best spots to visit for hiking, cycling or any other.

Hello Saad. I’m sorry for delay.

It is simple to say about the best time for cycling in Russia. Of course, it is summer season, but September and May might be good too. Although for some people here, closing the summer bike season means opening the winter one. It is interesting to read our bike forums in winter where guys from Siberia discuss their cycling at -32C and such problems like at what temperature hubs freeze and stop working. I’m not one of them, because I love to ski much more in winter.

As for long distance bike routes in Russia, the question is complex indeed. It depend how you would like to tour fast or scenic for instance. There are tons of travelogues in the Russian Internet about bike touring in Russia. It is real pleasure, to read some of them, which aren’t just technical reports about distances, average speed, food, money, hotels etc. I love when author creates illusion of participation.

I don’t know how to share this with the rest of the world because of the language barrier, so I don’t want to give the links right now. All I can do is to add the page on my website in English, which would be dedicated to bike touring in Russia, and to put there the links to my favorite travelogues with minimal comments. I think this material would help to orient oneself in the subject. However, this job will take some time.
There are many travelogues on touring in Russia in English also, but they are written not by native Russians. I like to read them, sometimes with a smile, but if I was going on tour abroad, I would prefer to know how locals do this. Sometimes, I looked at the Polish or Czech WebPages, but had no possibility to translate ones.

Finland is nice country also to make a bike tour. We did it last year, but the travelogue is in Russian. I want to translate it in English. Furthermore, I have to fix some html bugs as I have done with my Turkish page due to Roland.
I’m sure you will have enough information to make a bike tour of Russia or Finland and maybe we will come to Jordan for cycling too.
