ist zwar noch lange hin bis sommer 2006.
aber man kann ja nicht frueh genug anfangen!

ich moechte im sommer 2006 (irgendwann zwischen mai und september) drei monate in den usa radeln.
ich stelle mir dabei eine nord-sued-tour im westen vor.

ich suche solche, die dazu auch lust haetten oder mir tips geben koennen. alles ist willkommen!

ich bin 39 jahre alt, lebe in hamburg.

I do not know if I posted this successfully.

I have toured many 1000s of miles in the West of the U.S. and Canada plus the Northwest Territories, Yukon and Alaska.
I think such a tour is one of the best in the world - if you like a lot of wilderness - - and I do.

Weather, wind, temperatures, rain, and snow melting suggest that you shoud start in the Southwest and work your way north as the season gets warmer.

California > Yosemite > Grand Canyon > Taos > Colorado > Yellowstone > Montana > Banff > Jasper > Prince Rupert.

From Prince Rupert (actually near Hazleton) you can go north on the Stuart Cassiar Highway (#37) but I would NOT ride on the Alaska Highway - too many caravans plus they have widened and straightened it - it looks like an airport runway in places. If you want to spend more time in the North - take the Alaska ferry from Prince Rupert to Haines or Skagway.
The scenery on the Alaska Highway in the Yukon is much better than on the Klondike. If you tour on a mountain bike I would definitely ride the Denali Highway.
