Das problem kenn ich, es gibt zwi möglichkeiten:
1. Schaltpunkte dejustiert durch zu starke Einspannung (Pitlock über 7 Nm)
2. Verzahnungsfehler. Hatte ich auch schon.

Dein Sohn sollte sich an Rohloff wenden, die schicken ihm wohl einen neuen Getriebeblock, oder verweisen ihn an den nächsten Händler.
