Hello Miguel,
what a coincidence, some minutes ago we have been talking about it in the German section!
The English word is "mudguard", the most common word in German is "Schutzblech", "das Schutzblech" with the correct gender and in singular, "die Schutzbleche" in plural, for alphabetical use the gender is not relevant. Literally translated it means protection (sheet)metal , it will even be understood, when it´s made from plastic. The old fashioned form "Kotschützer" is not so well known, maybe only locally used.

Now I´m curious: what is the equivalent in Spain (you don´t need them quite as often as we do in the summertime!)?

HAllo,
Thank you. In Spain we say "Guardabarros" is like mud ->Muddy ->barro and Guarda -> Guard. But it is very dificult to find it here. The people in Spain has a MTB or Road-Bike, there isn´t citybikes. The bike is considered as a Sport, never like a mean of transport. I have converted my old MTB in a citybike but we a have only a shorts mudguard, but they are inadecuated, because you are always wet when you go fast.

Thank you.
Where is the German Forum? I speak German and I would like to improve it. Gibt es eine Besondere Forum fü Deutsche Leute?

Hello Miguel;
your question also appears in the German section, but I have no clue how you get there. For me it pops up automatically, you probably find an explanation in the help section. I am very bad with computers, for me they are still a kind of bewitched typewriter, so I am sorry for not being helpful in this case. Maybe you ask a moderator or admin for details, I am too stupid to explain this. blush

Good luck in finding your guardabarros !
