Underway in Portugal

Hallo,
I am just new in the forum. After getting inspired to get into more extensive bike travels than in Europe I was thinking of buying a Koga Miyata Randonneur Extra. My actual 'bike' won't last much more I think...
Does anyone have experience with this bike?
But of course as my budget is limited I was thinking of getting it second hand, and indeed I got an offer for a 16 year old model with 'only' 8000km, newer magura brakes and Shimano Deore XT. What price would you rate as the most convenient. I am just hesitating as about if a Koga Miyata bike is as 'timeless' as it is said, regarding specially the durability of the main frame and the components.
Does anyone own the bike and has encountered any major problems over the years?
Thank you
Daniel

I am just translating the German discussion: - it seems to be a pretty good cycle, but there were some problems with the painting of the frame and someone spoke about a broken part of the frame....
Am I too late with this info? smile

Hallo Cidu,
thank you for your answer. I finally decided to decline the call of the posche of the bicycles and got a simpler Falter T1 bike, all in XT...it's not designed to travel all around the world, but maybe that's more a question of the driver than of the bike.
I will tell about how the bike is going.
See you
Daniel
