When you are on a long trip and visiting larger citys, where do you store your bike and gear if you want to take a walk in the city?
In this case you have not found a place to stay yet.

Ive stored my bike in a police statin in Irland once, but not many police stations would offer that.

Biking is about maximum 1-6 hours each day on the wheels. And 4-12 half liters each day. On interrail you travel from a to b, on bike you travel between a to b. A old visdom word from Norway

Fire stations are good places, sometimes in the tourist office information, bike clubs or bike stores, some pubs.....

Hi,

if I stay in the city I check-in to hotel first. (Even if the room is not ready I leave my bike in the reception).

if I visit something where I have to buy a ticket for I lock my bike in front of the ticket office and ask if they can look after my bike.

I smaller cities (where I won't stay overnight) I push my bike on the short city walk.

easy: in the most crowded place of the city. A large, central square is perfect. Of course, the bike must be locked; a thief won't operate the utensils of his profession in front of dozens or hundreds of witnesses...

Hey Vagabond,

Franco is right. The best place is the most crowded. I've let my bike on a crowded place with all my luggage. By my return verything has been were it had been before. In a small town normaly nothing like a theft 'll not happen.

regards
