the northeast of north Thailand - 12/28/07 04:53 PM

Dear all,

In Februari we land in Bangkok for our next cycle trip.
We were thinking about exploring the northeast of north Thailand, which is the region of Phrae, Nan, Phayao, Chiang Rai.
Has anyone already visited this region of Thailand ? How did you experience this region ? Comparable to the other regions in north Thailand ?
Or does anybody know where I can find information about it ? I was in fact looking for travel reports or things like that.

Another question : is there a malaria risk in the border area with Laos ?

We have been to Thailand before. Two years ago we cycled from Nong Khai to Chiang Mai, and also visited the north of Thailand (Golden Triangle - Chiang Khong region).

Thanks in advance,

Koen

Hello, I am called vicente.

I recorri a circular route in the north of thailandia, also cross the border thailandia with laos, but it was another year.
The route partio from chiang mai that is one of the big cities of the north of thailandia and I finish also in chiang mai.
The tour is precious(beautiful) though a bit hard for the differences, the roads are little travelled, because of it one travels very well, and the people are brilliant(genial) very good, you do not need hotel you can sleep in any temple asking for permission, and during the whole route you have everything necessary to eat without having to cook since it(he) is very cheap.
You can see some photo of the route in the forum of españa PHOTOS OF ROLLINGS

He(She) excuses but I do not speak Englishman, and not that such the translation.

REGARDS VICEN
