Andalucia - 10/22/07 03:46 PM

Hello,

December 15th we will fly to Malaga to cycle for about ten days. Just to overlap the time between Indian Himalaya and Alaska and to escape the Dutch winter!

Does anyone have some information for us? Must-sees? We are nature people by the way.

Thanks!

Regards,
Ellen

Hi Ellen,

welcome to the forum!! Sorry but I can't help out with information on Andalucia. I just wanted to remark that the pictures on your homepage are wonderful!! Quite funny is the picture from India, "sorry for oooh, ahh, ouch" grin .

Hopefully many members of the forum will take notice of you and your homepage. If you speak german you maybe should introduce yourself in the german section as well, there you will probably also get more information on Andalucia wink.

Have a nice time!

Dear Ellen:

It 4 years now that I live in Spain, Last may I cycled from Madrid to Cádiz. It was a great ride. For your trip I recommend you to have in mind that Spain is a hilly country and there are some steep climbs and high hills even in Andalucia.

I recommend the spanish greenways, have a look at the site
http://www.viasverdes.com/languages/programme_english.htm

You'll find an overall map on:
http://www.viasverdes.com/mapa.htm

As destinations I recommend:
Granada, Seville, Córdoba, Cádiz

take care on the highways, specially on the coast and try to take the backroads, often much less traffic and beautiful scenery.

Any further question, let me know.
regards
sascha

Hello

We're an old couple who like to cycle moderate distances on paved surfaces using our folding bikes. When the going gets tough, we fold up and jump on a bus!

We're thinking of taking the bus from Almeria to Grenada in January, then cycling back. Any advice on finding nice back roads (with not too much uphill !), would be much appreciated. The route on the TransAndalus site looks good for serious maountain bikers.

Some of our earlier trips are described in our website.

By the way, we speak some Spanish

Regards

Tony
