Mountain Biking or Touring in the UK - 03/20/05 06:25 AM

Im living in London as of th 23rd of April 2005 and im keen to do a bit of travelling around Britian, Wales and Scotland wheather it be by touring or weekends away on the Mountain bike trails!

Is anyone out there local or keen for the same thing! My fitness level is very good -- I ride approx 20 to 40 km off road or 50 plus on road per session. Im a very laid back Aussie from Brisbane who doesnt mind the odd trip to the pub if it doent interfear with a good days ride!

The UK is one of the best places for bicycle touring. Watch out for the rain. I cycled the UK in the summer of 1984, and had only five days of light rain in seventy days. Be warned, however, that this was a freak summer, a drought summer, and that it is not to be expected to happen often like that.

The country lanes are absolutely the best. The English people are very friendly, and they give the best, most accurate directions when needed. Campgrounds and hostels are in abundance. Coastal areas and inland ranges compare for grandeur and scenic beauty with the pacific coastal route in the USA.
