Does anyone have any experience with either this or its little brother the Micro 100. It fits my budget at E160 but am trying to ascertain its suitability for a predominantly desert trip (i.e. how will the zips handle the sand) and in occassionally strong winds.
Also has anyone any experience in this regard with the Coleman Viper?
Other suggestions for a 1 1/2 to 2 man tent in this price region would also be welcome.
Regards,
Jules

Don't bother with the Vango tent

Buy a Hilleberg Nallo 2 - best on the market.

...but also most expensive.
Yes, damn expensive

Ended up getting a Mountain Equipment Coop Tarn II Plus tent. Was in a sale, but even still at CA$205 I rate it as a pretty good buy. I used it on my last trip in Sept and it was just the right size for me with all the luggage although a little on the heavier side. The ground sheet is not great but then that's the same with most and you'll need a decent plastic ground cover.

Hi Jules,
There are many good light weight tents out there. I'm not sure of what the E160 is worth, (I'm in the states) however, check out Sierra Designs, Big Agnes and the new North Face Tadpole.these tents are in the mid range and work. I've used many S.Designs, North Face Big Agnes, Vango, Helleberg, Exped and Mountain Hardware. All make good Tents. I've taught Desert survival and a bath tub floor is useful, also the Tadpole has worked well in Mexico deserts, Arizona,Utah, California and Nevada for me. Check them out.

Just came across your thread. Wow, you definitely made a good choice. Vango is not one of the best tentmakers around. Although I have no experience with the model you were contemplating, not many of my school's Vango tents have survived more than two years of DofE usage (~6 w/e trips per year).
