Hello, I will take the train to Mongolia (Ulan Bataar) next Spring (2011). The cycling trip will start from there probably to Zamyn-Uud in Mongolia (if wind condition ok for it); then, Ereen (China), Yinchuan, Xining and Tibet: Lhassa-Everest. Let me know if you like to join or if you've got good advice! V

Hi Valise,
since I am being back from my first trip in Asia, I cycled in Laos at February this ywar,
Iam thinking about to cycle in Nepal or to cycle the friendship highway.
The karakorum highway sounds also mystic, but its rather to dangerous.
Please get in contact, it would be great.

Best wishes

Hello Maria,
Sorry to reply so late; I was not going on that forum because nobody was answering my post for a long time and in the meantime I met a great partner for the trip and hopefully more. The trip has changed slightly and we are starting from Irkutsk in Siberia around the 15th June 2011, then Ulan Ude and crossing Mongolian border. For Mongolia, "nothing is written on stones" but probably going to West first Khovsghol lake, then South to Kharkhorin and after Ulaan Baatar. From UB (end July), asking Chinese visa, and we were thinking to take the train to Chengdu (in the Sichuan, mid-west of China) and cycling around the Sichuan and Yunnan (in chinese Himalaya) to finish mid september in Kunming. We might change it all and maybe stay in Mongolia or go to Tibet, but we will see...
What is your dream plan? It would be really great to meet on our bikes in the middle of Mongolia?! When are you going? On your own?

Hello Roland,
You seem to have got the biking virus too... a weird addiction! My cycling plan for this Summer has changed but might still changed again... for the moment, we are not planning to go to Tibet but we are getting "ready" for it if we decide to go. We'll be in the Sichuan and Yunnan during August and September.
When are you planning to go?
Valerie
