Eurovelo - 05/23/10 09:36 PM

Has anyone experienced these routes? Particulary eurovelo 8 (Mediteranian route).
On summer, I should be cycling from Montenegro along the coastline of Adriatic sea to Milano following eurovelo 8.
I used only 20km of eurovelo 6, from Belgrade to Pancevo (Serbia) and I was pleased! Singpost everywhere, good road along the Danube river, no trafic. Excellent!

EV8 is supposed to take you from Cádiz (Spain) to Athens (Greece) and Cyprus for a total of 5900 km approx.
I'm afraid that most of the route is based on normal roads, eventually quite trafficated.
For sure I wonder which way you're chased to follow to reach Milano tongue.
Last year I undertook EV6 from the Atlantic (Loire Atlantique) to Budapest for a total of 3000 km. Frankly quite a pleasant trip that, this year (perhaps end of August), I'll continue on the other side in the direction of Black Sea crossing Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Moldova.
I'm still looking for someone interested to share this experience with me.
For any information on EV6 I'd be pretty pleased to be of any possible support.

Grazie mille smile
Well, I'm going to Codogna, close to Lago di Como. So, I taught it will be the best possible way to follow E8 to Milano, and then to find a way north. But if it's not quite good idea, if there is too much traffic... I don't know what could we do. (me and my friend). Maybe to go to Trento, and then through the mountains. Have any suggestion? have you cycled there?

Btw, I'm not from Belgrade, but I can help you finding place to stay since I'm currently in Belgrade (student dormitory). Of course, if you decide to come here smile

you can actually reach Milano following EV8 but, please, don't expect to find many dedicated cycling lanes.
Be prepared for a "MIX" of roads and, very important, use as much "FANTASY" as you can. tongue
Once you leave the PO river, at Pizzighettone for istance, you may point north in the direction of Milano-Lecco-Como, but it's very complicated, unless you accept to take very normal and so far very trafficated roads.

GOOD LUCK

Hi friend, I just saw your request on going along the Danube from Budapest to the Black Sea. I did the whole trip along the Danube to the Ukrainian border an to Sulima (where the Danube joins the Black Sea) and went on to Constanta and Varna. Unfortunately, I actually have only very weak internet conection, but from tomorrow evening on, I will be back home and can give you any information you like, if you ask me for. I could also send you my report on the whole trip, but it is in german. You cab find all my pictures from the trip on http://picasaweb.google.de/pemanz/Donau2009
The area is just great to discover and worth going there !

Greetings
Peter

Thank you Peter, unfortunately I have to postpone this project, hopefully for the next year.
For sure I'll have a look to the pictures and read your report.
Thank you.
