St. Peterburg

St. Peterburg - 11/19/11 10:31 PM

For next summer, I plan to cycle to St. Peterburg, starting in Germany, either by ferry from Rügen to Klaipeda, or across Poland from Erfurt or Berlin. If possible, I would like to avoid Riga and hop over the island Saarema.

I prefer sleeping in my tent (usually on campsites), however, sometimes I treat myself to the luxury of a B&B or a hotel; I might also stay at friends' (of friends') homes.

I am an experienced touring cyclist, 60-120km/day, slow but steady, do not easily give up in difficult situations, and have good communicative skills. Languages: German, English, basics of Polish and French, learning Russian, capability of fast acquiring some basic phrases for any language.

I am capable of basic repairs, however not good at complicated fixings such as bearings or centering rims etc.

I am looking for a traveling companion (age and gender do not matter), with touring experience, no beginner. You should be more interested in culture and people than in breaking (personal) distance records.

"Part-time travelers" are highly welcome, especially if they are locals!
